Türkiye' deki mevcut siyasal yapı 21. Yüzyılda bir "ahlak ve seviye" sorunu ile karşı karşıya gözükmektedir. 12 Eylül müdahalesinin sosylojik etkileri, ayrıca bir "temsil" sorununu da yaratmıştır. Hangi siyasal partinin, hangi sınıf ve kesimi temsil ettiği iyice karmaşık bir yapı sorununa dönüşmüştür. Bugün siyasal partiler yelpazesindeki önemli bir sorun poltikacı kimliğindeki erozyondur.

Siyasal partiler 12 Eylül sonrasında, bu platformdaki bireyleri sosyalize edece, ne zamana ne de eğitim olabilmişlerdir. Böylece her partide, o partinin ilkelerini ve ideolojisini hazmetmemiş ya da kabul etmemiş pek çok politikacı siyaset sahnesinde rol aldı ve çizdiği zigzaglarla kamuoyunun gözünde siyaset adamının imajını zedelemiştir. Milletvekili seçildikten hemen sonra parti değiştirenler, seçilebilmek uğruna bakanlık yaptığı partisini bir gecede terkedenler, partisiyle taban tabana zıt görüşleri kamuoyu önünde pervasızca savunarak menfaat elde edenler bu sürecin ürünüdür. Oysa ki, bir toplumun siyasi, iktisadi ve kültürel yaşamına yön veren kişilerin çizgileri ve beklentileri, bize o toplumun geleceğine ilişkin önemli ipuçları sağlar. Bu bağlamda siyaset adamlarının üstlendiği misyon çok önemlidir. Siyaset bir meslek değildir, olmamalıdır. Siyaset, meslek sahiplerinin yani profesyonellerin kendi alanlarındaki başarılarını ülke sorunlarının çözümü için kullanacakları bir plaform olmalıdır artık. Siyaset, fonksiyonel katılımcıların azami toplumsal faydayı sağlamak için yaptıkları bir bayrak yarışıdır. Bayrak yarışı, kurallar ve centilmenlik ilkeleri çerçevesinde maksimum performans hedeflenerek tamamlanır ve devredilir. Bu anlamda Türkiye' nin siyasal modelinin, ülkenin bugün içinde bulunduğu sorunları çözemeyeceği gerçeği ile karşı karıyayız. Nitekim mevcut model parti içi demokrasiyi dahi yoketmekte...Hepimizin özlediği "Temiz Toplum" sürecinin bir parçası olarak, bu hantal siyasal modelin güncelleştirilmesi hatta değiştirilmesi, ardından da misyonu hazmetmiş, basiretli ve dürüst siyaset adamlarının bu arenaya çıkmalarına destek olmak gerekmektedir. "Temiz Toplum" ve "Ülkeye Hizmet" toplum örgütlerinin varlığını burada tekrar vurgulamak gerekiyor. Demokratikleşme süreci heğimiz için "izlenen" değil, içine bizzat girilerek "oynanan" yani herkesin katılımıyla oluşturulan bir takım oyunu olmalıdır.

I t seems that an "ethical" problem awaits the current political structure of Turkey in the 21th century. The sociological implications of the military coup of 12th September 1980 have further created a problem of "representation". A very complicated structural problem has come forth whereby it has become extremely difficult to comprehend which political parties represent which particular classes or segments of the society. The major problem that prevails in the area of political parties today is that the identity of the politician has been subject to a certain erosion. After the 1980 coup, political parties have neither has the time nor the training necessary to socialize the individuals involved in this platform. Thus political parites have had to accommodate members who have remained somewhat aloof to and maybe who did not even have faith in their principles and ideologies. Hese people, with their inconsistent attitudes and actions, have impaired the image of politicians in the eyes of the public. Those who changed their parties immediately after being elected as MPs, those who abandoned the parites which they represented as ministers without the slighest hesitation, those who ruthlessly advocated to the public views that totally differed from those of their so as to gain personal benefits, are unfortunately the outcome of this process. The fact is that the ideas and expectations of people who give shape to a society' s political, economic and cultural life, provide us with significant clues as to that society' s future. In this context, the mission assumed by politicians is of utmost importance. Politics is not a profession, and should not be one. It is time for politics to be regarded as aplatform where professionals use their competencies in their respective fields for finding solutions to the problems of the country. Politics is a relay rae run by functional participants so as to ensure that optimum benefit can be provided to the community. The aim of the relay race is to display the best possible performance within the framework of the relevanr rules ans the priciples of sportsmanship... and then the falg is handed over to the next runner. In this sense we are faced with the reality that the political model that currently prevails in Turkey will not be able to resolve and of the problems the country is confronted with. As a matter of fact, the existing model has now even started to annihilate the concept of democracy even within the parties. As a part of the "Clean Community" precess, it is essential to update and even change this cumbersome poltical model and then to encourage the entrance into the political arena of prudent and honest politicians who have dedicated themselves to the mission. I would hereby like to re-emphasize the fact that organizations which work for a "Clean Communşty" and for "Serving the Country" do exist. The process of democratization should become a tean game "played" with the participation of all citizens, rather than continuing to be a game that is merely "watched".
