TÜGIAD ELEGANS olarak siz saygideger okurlarimiz ile birlikte 12. yilimizi idrak etmis bulunmaktayiz. Bu süre içerisinde, sizlerden gelen yapici tenkitler ve destekler dogrultusunda, her yeni sayimizi daha da büyük bir sevk ve heves ile yayinlama gayreti içinde bulunduk. Dünyada en gelismis ve en güçlü toplumlarin ayni zamanda en çok kitap basan toplumlar olmasi bir tesadüf degildir. Demokrasinin en basarili sekilde isledigi toplumlarin da en çok kitap basan toplumlar olmasi yine bir tesadüf degildir. Ancak, Türkiye'de hala okumayi bir aliskanlik ve bir zihin tiryakiligi haline getiremedigimizden, hafizasi zayif, muhakemesi tutarsiz, gelecege bakisi vizyonsuz bir toplum olmaktan kurtulamadik. Bunun en çarpici göstergesi, ülkemizde siyaset sinifinin düsünce planinda üretim yapamamasindan dolayi, siyaset ve ideoloji alanindaki tikanikliktir. Bilgi, dünyanin güç kaynaklari arasinda en demokratik olanidir. Dolayisiyla, bilime yatkin bir sagduyu olusmasi için okuyan ve düsünen bir toplum olmaya mecburuz. Tüm bu düsüncelerin isigi altinda, bu yolda, TÜGIAD ELEGANS olarak 12 yil içerisinde, bir deniz yildizi öyküsü misali, okyanusa en azindan bir adet deniz yildizi atmis ve o deniz yildizinin hayatini kurtarmis olmanin mutlulugu ve gururu içerisindeyiz. Bu mutlulugu ve gururu hissetmemizi saglayan tüm okurlarimiza tesekkürü bir borç bilir, 1998 yilinin basta Türk milleti ve ulusu olmak üzere tüm dünya ülkelerine baris, saglik ve mutluluk dolu günler getirmesini dileriz. TÜGIAD ELEGANS is celebrating its 12th anniversary with its distinguished readers. During the past 12 years we worked with great enthusiasm and tried to improve each new issue with your constructive criticism and support. It is no coincidence that the most developed and the strongest nations are also those publishing most. These are at the same time the very countries where democracy functions in its most succesful form. However, the Turkish society has not adopted reading as habit or a cerebral addiction, thus we are unfortunately a nationwith a weak memory, little judgment ability and even less vision. The most striking indicator of this fact is the political and ideological deadlock we are suffering from due to a lack of intellectual productivity from the part of politicians. Knowledge is the most democratic power source in the world. Therefore, we must become a reading and thinking society in order to form an intellectual inclination for science. Under the light of all of these ideas, TÜGIAD ELEGANS created the story of the starfish in the past 12 years. We ae happy and proud to have thrown a starfish into the sea and saved its life. We would like to convey our sincerest gratitude to all our readers who have made us feel this happiness and pride and we wish peace, health and happines to Turkey and other nations in 1998.
